Position Overview:

The District Sales Manager (DSM) is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing a team of Medical Representatives to achieve sales objectives within an assigned district. The DSM ensures effective execution of marketing strategies, builds strong customer and KOL relationships, analyses market trends, and drives sustainable business growth while upholding company values and ethical standards.

Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, or Science (or related medical background).

      Experience

      • At least 1–2 years of experience in a supervisory or coaching role is a strong advantage.
      • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Medical Representative.
      • Previous experience in the assigned therapeutic area or region is preferred.

      Responsibilities

      1. Team Leadership & People Development

      •Recruit, train, and mentor Medical Representatives to ensure strong field performance.
      •Conduct regular field visits to observe calls, provide feedback, and support team development.
      •Set individual and team KPIs, monitor performance, and conduct performance appraisals.
      •Build a positive team culture focused on accountability, achievement, and continuous improvement.

      2. Sales Management & Target Achievement

      •Develop and implement district sales plans aligned with company objectives.
      •Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance and take corrective actions when needed.
      •Ensure execution of marketing strategies and action plans at the field level.
      •Achieve district sales targets, market share growth, and expansion goals

      3. Territory & Business Planning

      •Review and approve territory action plans for each team member.
      •Analyse territory performance, customer segmentation, potential, and productivity.
      •Optimize resource allocation, routing plans, and visit frequencies to maximize coverage and impact.
      •Identify new business opportunities and areas with growth potential

      4. Market Intelligence & Competitor Monitoring

      • Monitor competitor activities, product launches, pricing changes, and promotional tactics.
      • Gather and share market insights with marketing and upper management.
      • Recommend strategic adjustments based on market dynamics.

      5. Customer & Stakeholder Relationship Management

      •Build and maintain strong relationships with key healthcare professionals (KOLs), pharmacists, hospital decision makers, and distributors.
      •Support the team during scientific events, symposiums, and product presentations.
      •Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional communication and follow-up.

      6. Reporting & Administrative Duties

      •Review and approve representatives’ reports: daily call reports, activity trackers, and expenses.
      •Ensure timely submission of district performance reports to senior management.
      •Maintain accurate documentation of team performance, training activities, and business plans.
      •Maintain compliance with company SOPs, policies, and ethical standards.

      7. Cross-Functional Collaboration

      •Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain, and HR to support business needs.
      Ensure effective coordination with distributors and key accounts.
      Facilitate communication between the field team and headquarters.
